Day 16 - Dr. Geeta Shroff holds a patient meeting

Today Geeta held a meeting in the lobby at 3:00pm our time. All patients & caregivers attended.  They served soda, some cookies and cake.  Of course I did not have any.  This is a monthly meeting, our first.  Patients were encouraged to ask questions. She spoke of hESC (human-only embryonic stem cells).  She started very slowly with only 5 patients. She injected them monthly watched and waited. I believe this went on for a year.  Then she began injections more often and again waited for results.  After several more years she began to create treatment protocols.  She said static injuries respond faster and degenerative ones take more time as the body is degenerating, duh.  Unfortunately, I have a degenerating one.  She has used only one embryo to create her cell lines.  The embryo was to be discarded as the donating mom had twins through IVF. It is a common practice, even in the US, to discard unused embryos or use them for research.

Geeta has treated over 1200 patients with this one embryo.  Unfortunately, George Bush, in his 8 year term, stopped all federal funding for stem cell research, making the issue about killing fetuses.  But what about the human lives that can be improved or saved by an embryo that would only be discarded? Geeta captured the cells at the point of division into 4 cells - very, very early on.  Ok, I'll get off my high horse now!

She continued to explain that she applied for patents for her unprecedented technology as she did not want people manipulating it and saying it doesn't work. She knew it worked, given time.  It takes 9 months to grow a small baby and more time to cure as we are large adults!  She has patents in Japan, Singapore and Australia, thus far. Waiting for other countries including the US. She expects to hear by September.

She has created 2 cell lines, neuronal & another I can't recall.  She explained that the severed or injured cells in the body that need help, cry out for it. And the new baby stem cells then know where to go. Amazing!!

She said she's had a good response in Lyme patients. An ex-Lyme patient was in the audience from Germany, as he was visiting another Lyme patient from Germany. He attested to the therapy whole-heartedly.

Louie from Australia was here about 5 times. He was paralyzed from a severed spinal chord injury.  He is still in a wheelchair but so much improved.  He was described as a very thin man, but now he is muscular and looks quite healthy. Ahba took care of him at one point and described his health as very poor. His Dad arrived today, his mom went back home. When I first met her she said "you will see miracles here!"  I am patiently waiting.  Well, maybe not SO patiently. ;-(

I met Geeta's mother today. We chatted for about 15 mins in her office. So very sweet & welcoming.  She is a PhD economist! In her late 70's or older, I think. Her name is Bathakur.  I haven't met Geeta's dad yet, but Robbin did and he is a PhD actuary. Smart family!  Both her children are in the US attending college.

Ok another day, all bandages are off.  Yeah!

Robbin announced today that he CANNOT read my mind. I love him anyway, but I do wonder why he cannot read it.

Good night xo
