Day 68 - Right Up Our Alley!

We went to bed late; woke up too early.  I lounged around all day.

Watched some TV, blogged, played WWFs and napped.

Robbin ran out this morning and got us dosas for breakfast, they were yummy.  He worked on one of Ashok's guitars and much of his day was spent writing out some data management rules.  Sam left early this morning and passed the reins over to Robbin.  I reviewed and edited the document tonight; 2-3 hours of pure fun.

There has to be a higher power that sent us to NuTech to help!

Day 67 - A Wonderful Dinner with Geeta, Ashok and Sam

It was 6:45 pm on Saturday night.  We were whisked away by Ashok's driver in a sparkling clean Toyota.  We emerged from the car to see Geeta and her husband, Ashok, right behind us.  Geeta wore a sheer black pant and top with a shimmering black wrap with fringes and round hanging earrings that glistened. Absolutely stunning!

The restaurant was named Setz.  It was very elegant.  The kitchen was surrounded by glass. We were seated overlooking the chefs; they were all dressed in white with perfect white chef hats.  There had to be about 30 of them, all quite busy; flames galore.

Sam was given the wine list; Sam, Geeta and Robbin shared a bottle of red Super Tuscan.  Robbin was a bit hesitant so Geeta told him to have some salt before drinking the wine and then electrolytes when we got back. Robbin only had about 2-3 ounces, which he enjoyed, but got a hangover at the table!

Ashok ordered an excellent assortment of appetizers; it reminded me of Jav. We had shrimp, tandoori chicken, and a lamb roll - all with an assortment of delicious chutneys.

Then he ordered another assortment including chicken biryani with raita, chicken tikka masala, fish & a small bowl of dal. It was all so deliciously tasty!  The finest.

For dessert, I had 2 scoops of dark chocolate gelato; scrumptious!

There were conversations all night about music, favorite movies, family stories, travel plans and more.  It was a lot of fun.  They were great hosts.

We all thanked them and Ashok's driver took us home - it was about 11:00 when we arrived.

What a great memory!!

Day 66 - TGIF

Ryan added a button to the blog that will translate the post for you, if English isn't your first language. Very cool!  Thanks Ryan.

Today was a huge IV day, 2 long ones (2-3 hours each) and 2 short ones (25 mins). Plus stem cells in both arms, on my tongue, up my nose, via the catheter & by IV.  Also, they took the catheter out, yeah!

Robbin went downstairs & worked with Sam for a bit.  Sam is impressed with what's going on here.

Tomorrow, Saturday will entail 2 IVs timed around a gut procedure at noon.  And at night, dinner out!

TV - "Paul McCartney and Wings" plus Scandal.

Day 65 - All Dressed Up & No Place to Go

I counted my baby steps today in PT and each way was 60 - so 120 in total!

Lots of stem cells and IV meds.  Made me pooped.

Dinner was postponed until Saturday as Geeta didn't want me to go out with the catheter in my back.  And we didn't find out until we were in the lobby waiting for the cab!

So, Robbin, Sam & I ordered takeout and sat in the air conditioned PT room and chatted.  It was nice except we only got 2 things we ordered and some we didn't order.  Poor Sam, he only ate garlic naan!  I enjoyed hanging out with them.

Late to bed... More tomorrow.

Day 64 -

I did well in PT today. At the end of each morning session, I walk the length of the room without my walker.  Of course Varun is right behind me.  Well, this morning when I got to the end, I turned around and walked back!  I felt strong and confident; surprised Varun and myself!

In OT, my sounds were crystal clear.

Had my procedure today, but after the catheter I received 4 new injections; new to me at least.  One behind each knee and one in each wrist.  They only hurt like a pin prick, but now in the evening, my right wrist hurts.  Also, some mild pain where they inserted the catheter.

In honor of Sam, Geeta invited us all to dinner tomorrow evening!  Can't wait.

TV - Contact with Jodie Foster and Scandal.

Day 63 - Bye Grandma

Today marks 9 weeks at NuTech!

Swati, my OT doctor, said my tongue was stronger today and my OMs and Naga's were good too. Yay!  I think it was from a good night's sleep.

Had 4 IVs today, 3 short and 1 long, so I rested and listened to music for 3 hrs; too many artists to remember.

Faizon, the young boy with cerebral palsy, left today, which means I'll no longer see his grandma's smiling face in the morning.  She is so very nice!  They live in Bangladesh.
Me & Grandma.

Not much else went on today.  Tomorrow a 3 day catheter procedure - Oh boy.

Thought for Today - Don't let negative thoughts invade your space, ever.

Day 62 - Sam arrived!

Today my PT therapist was absent, so I had another nice man named Raul.  He stretched me harder than Varun and added a few new stretches that I liked.  Both legs are lifting 4 1/4 kgs now (9.4 lbs).  I also weighed myself on Friday, and I'm up 1/2 kg (1 lb) to 119 lbs!!

OT was good, some of my fingers are a bit stronger, but my sounds came out poorly.  I haven't had poor sounds in weeks. Tomorrow is another day.

Sam Givens arrived today and worked with Geeta and her dad.  Robbin hung out with them for much of the day and then took Sam out for a short walk to show him the neighborhood.  It was good to see him.  And he brought me almond milk!

TV - Karate Kid Part III and Scandal.
